Aditya is a Chartered Accountant from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and an MBA from International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Lausanne, Switzerland. He has rich management experience spanning three decades in the corporate world with a proven track record of developing and turning around businesses in various leadership positions. Currently, he is the CEO of Fortis Healthcare Ltd., he was associated with Punj Lloyd where he held the position of Group President – Defense, a role in which he was responsible for setting up the Defense and Nuclear Power verticals for the Group.
Prior to joining Punj Lloyd, Aditya had a distinguished innings of 18 years with General Motors, across five countries in Europe and Asia. Some of the key positions he held with GM include General Director – Opel Southeast Europe, Hungary, Chairman & Managing Director – GM India and Regional Executive Director – Nordic, Benelux & Switzerland. Among his significant achievements at GM were the turnaround of the India business into a profitable entity, the successful launch of the Chevrolet brand in India, the expansion of production capacity at the car manufacturing plants several-fold, the establishment of an engineering & R&D Centre for Global competitiveness and the setting up of a shared services centre for GM Units worldwide.
He has been appointed as Non-executive director on the Board of Fortis Malar Hospitals Limited and designated as Chairman.
Mr. Ashish Bhatia
Ashish Bhatia is an alumnus of The Lawrence School, Sanawar, and brings to the organization, a rich and varied experience of over 28 years. He started his career with the Tea Gardens at Assam and prior to joining Fortis he was Vice President – Marketing with Hero Motors.
Ashish Bhatia in his current position of Chief Operating Officer with Fortis Healthcare India handles the overall operations of all hospitals of Fortis in India.
He has been associated with Fortis Healthcare since its inception and has held many key positions within the group during the past ten years.
Under his leadership, among many other achievements, Fortis Hospital Mohali became the first hospital of the network to receive the prestigious international JCI (Joint Commission International) accreditation. Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, which is amongst the world’s largest stand alone cardiac institutions received the NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers) accreditation, the highest national recognition for quality patient care and safety, In 2008 the hospital also received the status of ‘Superbrands’. In July 2009, a survey of 4,000 patients which was conducted across six metros by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs to understand patient behavior and assess hospitals on different preferences, presented Escorts at the top in the category of “Most chosen for good image” as well as for “Overall satisfaction” in the bimonthly, India Today.

Mr. Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu
Mr. Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, an MBA from Philadelphia University, USA, is the Wholetime Director of Lakshmi Machine Works Ltd., Coimbatore. Lakshmi Machine Works Ltd is one of the three leading Textile Machinery Manufacturers in the world, manufacturing the complete range textile spinning machinery.
He is the Chairman of the India-ITME Exhibition Society, Mumbai and is a Member of the Southern Regional Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He is a Member of the Development Council for Textile Machinery Industry constituted by the Govt. of India. He is a Trustee of the G.Kuppuswamy Naidu Charity Trust, which runs a multi-speciality 600 bedded hospital and a Hr Secondary School in Coimbatore and an Arts College in Kovilpatti, Tamil Nadu. He is the Chairman of the Coimbatore Masonic Charity Trust, which runs a Children’s Hospital and a Working Women’s Hostel. He is a Trustee of GKD Charity Trust, which runs a Management Study College (DJ Academy for Managerial Excellence & DJ Academy of Design) and an Industrial Training Institute (GKD Institute for Technological Resources). He is a member of the Council of Administration of SITRA. He is also a Member of the Board of Governors of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Textile Management, Coimbatore.
An active supporter of Sports, he is the Vice President of the Tamil Nadu Shooting Association, Chennai and the Hon Secretary of the Rifle Club, Coimbatore. He is the President of Chennai Equestrian Academy, Chennai. His interests are also in Golf and Horse Riding.
Born on June 26, 1971, Vijayarathna Venkatraman spent the best of his childhood in Madurai, also known as Athens of the East. He completed his Bachelors in Science, majoring in Physics in 1991 and moved onto complete a formal Healthcare Management Course, a relatively new area in the early 1990′s from Madurai Kamaraj University by 1993.
Vijayarathna started his career with Apollo Group of Hospitals in Hyderabad in 1994 as a Management Trainee. During this period he evolved a scientific method of managing the ambulatory critical care system at the hospital. His interest to learn different healthcare systems took him to Wockhardt Hospital & Heart Institute, (An Associate Hospital of Harvard Medical International) Bangalore in 1997, the first single specialty cardiac hospital set up by a corporate body in India.
Mr. Vijayarathna later went on to become the Centre Manager of Wockhardt Hospitals, Bangalore and was responsible for formulating the business development strategies, relationship management strategies and also managing the front-end operations of the hospital.
In October 2009, he took charge of the Fortis Hospitals, Mulund and played a vital role in the smooth brand transitioning of Wockhardt Hospitals to Fortis Hospitals. He was instrumental in setting up the cancer facility at Mulund Hospital and drove growth and strategy.
During this tenure he also achieved the coveted accreditation of Joint Commission International quality Gold Standards for the 3rd time, a distinction achieved by only two other hospitals in the country.
Mr. Vijayarathna has been appointed as Whole-time Director on the Board of Fortis Malar Hospitals Limited w.e.f. July 10, 2012.
Mr. Ramesh L. Adige
Mr. Ramesh L. Adige, a Non-Executive, Independent Director, graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree from BITS, Pilani and has a post graduate degree from the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi. Mr. Adige is the President of RLL and spearheads the corporate affairs and global corporate communication functions. He is also responsible for corporate social responsibility, environment, health and safety at RLL. He has 33 years of experience in the areas of corporate policy, public affairs and public policy, strategic and perspective planning, external relations and the broader spectrum of business activities including joint ventures, technical and financial collaborations. He is RLL’s representative in various pharma bodies and a participant in the CII and FICCI and heads the CII’s Task Force on IP Policy. He was with Fiat India Limited as a whole-time director (corporate affairs) and has been the President of the Governing Council of the Automotive Research Association of India.
Mr. P. Murari
Mr. P. Murari, a Non-Executive, Independent Director, M.A. (Economics) 1954, from Madras University and had passed State Civil Services in1955 and Indian Administrative Services in 1957 and retired as Secretary to the President of India in August, 1992. He is specialized in the areas of General Industrial Administration, formulation of industrial policies, administration of public and cooperative sector industrial undertakings including sick units, health and family planning sector management, energy sector, financial administration and food processing. During his illustrious career as a civil servant, he has held many distinguished positions including: Sub-divisional and District Magistrate, Sub-Collector, Deputy Director of Census Operations. Chairman/Managing Director/Director in State undertakings of Government of Tamil Nadu. . Health Secretary, Commissioner for Commercial Taxes, Gov of Tamil Nadu. . Additional Secretary to GOI, Ministry of Industry. Secretary to GOI, Cabinet Secretariat, Implementation Committee for Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Centenary. Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, GOI. Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, GOI. He has undertaken many special projects for Government of India and has chaired numerous high level commissions & committees. He has served on the Boards/ Councils of several reputed institutions and professional bodies. He has represented India in Asian Productivity Council. He has a number of important publications to his credit.
Dr. Nithya Ramamurthy
Dr. Nithya Ramamurthy is a qualified Medical professional having more than 25 years of rich experience in medicine. She has been closely associated with the company right from the inception of the hospital project as one of the Chief Promoters of the company.
After the untimely demise of her husband Dr. Ramamurthy, the founder promoter of the company in 2004, Dr. Nithya Ramamurthy took charge of the affairs of the company and is successfully managing the company. Under her stewardship the company was able to promote the hospital as a trusted destination for quality medical care in the city.
Owing to her dedicated endeavours and futuristic vision, Malar Hospitals today is reckoned as one of the few multi-specialty hospitals in the city. Her continued association with the hospital is necessity for the betterment of the company. She is the member of the Shareholders’/ Investors’ Grievance Committee of Malar Hospitals Ltd.
